Probate
Hey BP quick question:
I have been marketing to probate for about 3 months now. Some calls have come through and pretty much sounded like they inherited the property or was left to them, but I have had other people call me and tell me that the property that I was marketing for was there property and there mother was just living with them and that she never owned the property. I have had another caller tell me that the person that had been deceased only rented the property and did not own it. Am I looking at the probate files correctly?? Or is there a way to tell whether the person lived there or owned it?? Thanks for the help!!!

While doing your research on the decedent and the Personal Representative (Executor or whatever this person is called in your county) make sure to also cross reference the address that you get from the probate system with the system of the county assessors webpage or the site that gives property info in your county. This way you'll know who actually owns the property you inquire about. It should also tell you if it was an apartment, homestead, or non-homestead property and whose care it's in. All county systems are different. Good luck!!
