How to hedge against a market down turn as a flipper?

Hi - I am interested in flipping homes because of the potential short term hold of the asset.

My question is - in the event of falling home prices due to a market event, how can the flipper readjust their strategy?

I am assuming that you could turn the flip into a rental.

Curious as to what other strategies exist.
