INVESTORS BEWARE: People unknowingly overpaid for ADUs fees in CA

I saw this article in San Diego today from inewsource. With so many people deciding to add an ADU for extra income, I felt like this article would benefit many on here. Beware of people trying to take advantage of you.

Our client recently sent us this article.

We've dropped off a lot of these checks to the treasury safe at the development services department.

It will be interesting to see what will come of this. We are closing out a few more ADU's this month so I wonder if the fee will change.

The City has definitely been racking it in on these too. Right before COVID we made new contacts and began doing ADU's and have permitted 10 and are contracted with 20 active ADU's. Investors have been moving quickly on these here in San Diego and paying the water/sewer fee.

We can't pull the permit without paying this fee so they have everyone by the nuts.
