As with most technical matters written by news folks, they often error. The CFD has been like a tenant eviction, but no more if the buyer squaks to an attorney where a foreclosure will be required, many state laws require the FC process based on equity obtained by the buyer.

Next error, the CFPB already views the CFD as predatory and it is considered a financing agreement under Dodd-Frank, same with rent-to-own as payments are credited to a sales price. That's about 4 years old now.

I only read the USATODAY, not the others, but certainly check them out, even with minor errors they are reputable sources to view the big picture, I would think. :)
