Private equity firms selling off portfolios?

One of the podcasts I listen to mentioned the possibility of large corporate investor selling off portions of their portfolios, potentially at their loss and our/the investor's gain.

Has anyone read/heard the same thing?

Have you done any additional research into it's validity?

I did a basic search of private equity real estate investment firms. If there is potential I was thinking about calling a couple to screen/profile and get some contact points for future deals.
