Empty lots in neighborhood

I’m considering buying an empty lot in between two houses in an upcoming community. I would like to buy and hold the lot until the market value goes up and sell it at a higher price than I bought it.

However, I’m curious what are some things to look for when deciding if this empty lot is a good investment? Is it the same as looking at homes or is it different?
