What do you say when contacting NOD’s in your deal finding?

My partner has me going out and knocking on NOD homes to try and find deals. I'm not really sure what to say. What do you say? Also is it worth knocking on their doors? I have no budget and my partner is really busy, so he's having me do it because I have way more time. Is there a better way?
