Finding current owner of a probate
I need a little help bp, my Gma informed me about a property that my great-great grandmother had in Richmond Virginia(vcu area). I've done a little research and found that her name is still listed as the owner of the property although she's no longer living, how could that be? How would I go about this whole process of finding the current owner being that's a lot of generations passed down? Anybody else been in a situation similar?

Go to the estate records and look at the estate. Was there a will? Was the property distributed. Was an estate even opened. Your grandmother may be the rightful heir to the property and maybe an estate can be opened now.
I see lots of situations where relatives of someone who died just move in, and never record a new deed or legally transfer the property.
If she passed a long time ago there may be a ton of taxes due.
