Buying close to a flood zone

Hi,

I am looking at a property that is approximately 1000 ft away from a "AE" flood zone (because of a small creek).  The information is from www.msc.fema.gov so it should be accurate.  This would be my first purchase and I am cautious about being so close to a flood zone.  I think that I should be OK since even the AE zone is supposed to be a 100 year flood but wanted to check the experiences of others on the board.

Thank you,
Sonny
