Looking for someone who is in the Columbia, SC market

I'm a new BP member and looking to get into REI with a house hack in Columbia, SC. I am a Junior at UofSC and I am starting to analyze deals on realtor.com, Zillow, and Redfin. What is a "normal" rent price for this market? I am finding single family houses that rent anywhere from $400-$1300 per bedroom.

@Nathaniel Smith you are in a good spot being in school at UofSC. If I could go back to my days there I would definitely look at house hacking and find myself a duplex or house close by and rent to other college students that I can hand pick out.

Instead of them finding a rental near the school you can have them lease your extra rooms. Paying slightly below or at the rental market for an apartment. My old apartment complex rented for $650 per room and up. So a three bedroom where you pay for cable and water at most alone would bring in $1300 a month. If your able to find a place with at least 2bth and 3 bdr at $800 to $900 then you would be living for free with cash flow of $350.
