There are no meet up groups where I am moving to but I also don’t own any rental property. I am in the process of evaluating deals daily to find my first property but I would still like to host one of those meet up groups. For someone like me who does not have a ton of real estate experience how can I host an event like this without wasting other experienced investors time? I have several people who are interested in starting a group like this. I have made several phone calls to other investors in that area and they all say they would love to see a meet up group started but no one is taking initiative to start it. I have an opportunity to start it myself what is some advice on hosting a meet up event

Hey Justin,

First off, I think its great that you're taking the initiative to start the group. Just curious, where are you located?

Reaching out to local investors is a good start.

Here are some other suggestions in no particular order:

1. find a local venue (i.e. restaurant with event space; hotel with a conference room; etc). Get the cost for a 2-3 hour event.

2. find a local realtor or mortgage loan officer who is looking to partner up. *Loan officers sponsor many of my local events and oftentimes pay for the event space and refreshments.

3. search BP & speak with local players in the industry to come up with a list of topics that people are interested in. i.e. Multi-family apartment investing; deal syndication; Fix & flips; etc. THEN get in contact with experts with experience pertaining to those topics and find out if they can come speak at your meet-up.

4. begin to request BP members from your community to start building your local network and create a buzz around your event. You can find local members by using the search icon AND by setting up keyword alerts.

Best of luck to you moving forward and please feel free to reach out if there is anything else I can help with.
