Reia Associations in ATL area - need recommendations
Hi All,
If you belong to one of the REIAs listed, I need your input and recommendations. I am interested in joining a local Reia group but want to make sure I pick the right one. If you could comment on what groups you below to and if it is been helpful for networking, education, and identifying and executing honest, mutually beneficial deals. I am also interest about culture and if the groups welcome newcomers.
Here is the list I have found:
Atlanta Real Estate Investors Alliance
Atlanta Real Estate Investors Alliance - Atlanta REIA North
South Atlanta REIA
Georgia REIA
NetWorth Realty of Atlanta, LLC
Haves & Wants: Atlanta Real Estate Investing
Thank you All!

Mentioning my path over time and where I ended up:
- 7 years ago a I joined all the REIAs / groups/ meetups. Spent most nights of every week at some REI meeting (serious).
- I spent $$ on weekend trainings, at some of the REIAs got to know a few of the local experts, trainers, mentors, etc.
- Started buying rentals, rehabbing and growing my portfolio
- 5 yrs ago i started letting memberships laps and only spending time at the orgs who had the most honest, experienced AND doing the most deals groups. There are SO, sooo, SOOO many local groups that are 99% new folks andf the leaders are mostly taking fees for this and that. But let me say, even today after I've built my portfolio large enough to quit my day job, I still spend >$5k / yr on education. $5k or more ever year. My wife comes to maybe $2k+ of these events. This is a masters degree after all.
- 3 yrs ago I let them all go for just GaREIA since they had the most help, most doors, biggest network of good folks, most valuable helps for me there was no choice.
- Today, yes I teach at GaREIA (for free) and am heartened to help new folks buy their first rentals that I spend maybe 1/4 of my time per week helping other GaREIAers get started. In a non-profit org helping the newer folks is how it works, just like in Church! Right?
I suggest you check all the other orgs out. Choose the few that actually help you. Only you will know who those folks and orgs are.
FWIW / FYI: check out the paper I have posted off my profile: How to buy a bullet proof rental portfolio. See the 1st few paragraphs of my profile.
