Looking for CPA & PM recommendation

Hello All,

I am having been researching in realestate investment for several months. I have been trying to put the various pieces of puzzle together so that I have a team in place before I purchase my first investment property.

I was wondering if you all have any recommendations for CPAs and/or property managers in Dallas that you trust? I have been interviewing few property managers and I haven't gotten the warm feeling from any of those phone calls (i have been going through the yellowpages/google). If you have success using any of the CPAs or PMs in Dallas area, please let me know. I have a realtor in place and I think, I pretty close to picking my banker.

Also, are there going to be any new BP member meetups in the DFW area? I would love to find a mentor who might be able to guide me in my new venture.

I would do some networking in the Dallas area. Join your local REI club. You might have a rental housing association in area. You might get some good suggestions from area mortgage brokers, agents, lenders, title or others in the real estate industry as well.

Real estate is a people business it can be well worth your time getting out building contacts and discovering who others are using and why.

When choosing a CPA, you will want to find one that has some experience with real estate investing transactions. CPAs are definitely not created equal. A CPA that does a lot of audit work is probably going to be less helpful than one that does tax work, financial planning, estate planning or retirement planning.

How you invest in RE will make a difference in your tax consequences as well. An investor that sets up a business will have more tax deductions as well and how that business is organized can make a difference.

You also might want to check out the chamber of commerce or other networking groups. You can learn a lot and may find leads t
