I would like to know about layout software. If I want to save layouts for buildings or units to accurately do things withought being anywhere near the property, what can I use? This could be for planning rehabs or just quickly referencing for square footage.

You could try Homestyler...it provides basic layout and design functionality.  If you are looking for anything more intensive, then I would recommend Sketchup or AutoDesk.
