When I started as a real property investor in 1978, we found “deals” or at least leads, advice, resources, etc. by attending in person networking events.  Through the years I successfully raised capital for syndications, found property to purchase, found buyers for property I sold, made mortgage loans to and invested in others deals all found by attending real estate networking events.  Back in 2001 I calculated that 19 commercial real estate networking events were being held in Houston Texas monthly, with the number of residential real estate events too numerous to tally.

I was an early adapter to the on line world, producing an early website, blogging, utilizing social media, virtual networking events, producing on line seminars all to promote my real estate investments/businesses.

I was wondering what everyone else is doing these days with regard to networking.  Are you still attending in person events?  Are you part of a social media real estate group?  Or is networking part of your real estate investment or business strategy at all?

The only in-person event I go to is a 1-2 hosted in Houston by Riverway Title (including the presentation by Mark Dotzour next week)
