I am curious if anyone has read, "The Book on Flipping Houses" by J. Scott. If you have, was the info helpful and would you recommend the book? I am considering buying it but i wanted to make sure it was a good informative read. Also, are there any other books that are a must read? I am new to this and have not set the REI wheels in motion quite yet. I would like to get as much info as i can before I take the jump. My whole entire life, I have had the gift of learning from other peoples mistakes and limiting making mistakes myself.

Yes, the book is very helpful. I have just recently finished it and if you plan to flip or use the BRRR strategy then you should pick up the book. It provides a well designed approach to evaluating deals and developing a scope of work. It is well worth the time and money.

Hands down BEST book on flipping houses, the best part is his SOW (Scope of Work) section, plus he gives quick estimates based on what each category of repairs might cost. This is a must have to put on your real estate investing book shelve!

Absolutely a great read. I am all for education, but I learn more when I have skin in the game.  Get out there and start doing it.  It is not easy, the good deals take time to find.  But you cannot find deals by reading a book.

@Jacob Callsen

I just began reading it and so far I am impressed.  The book is written clearly and in a style that I find very easy to read.

I look forward to finishing the book. Based on what I have read, I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in REI, even if flipping is not necessarily their goal.

Hope this helps.

Ed

I just finished the book. It answered many of my questions and I learned things I wouldn’t have even thought of! Scenarios that you wouldn’t have thought of and how to avoid them... How to select the proper Realtors, Contractors and what you should expect from a good, better, best Realtor and Contractor etc.. How he does business with them, regarding hiring, firing, payments etc...  J even walks you through an example house, step by step. Showing you pictures of his forms and how to do all the estimations through each step.

J. Scott is a great guy! When have you seen another author that puts his email in the book and says “email me if you have any questions about the book.” Never that I have seen... He will answer any questions you have about the book. He normally responds within a few days.
