Looking to chat with expats involved in REI while overseas

Hi Everyone,

My wife works for the State Department and my family has been posted in the Netherlands for the last 16 months. We have a few properties back in the States (DC and MD) that we are managing remotely. I am looking for fellow expats that are still interested in or actually purchasing properties back in the US while posted abroad. I'm interested in learning from other folks that are involved in this process to see if it is something we continue to pursue prior to our deployment being over. With Covid-19, I know everything is chaotic, but I am still interested in learning the process people used to purchase properties sight unseen. I guess I have a few specific questions just to get the juices flowing on discussion:

1.) How did you go about sourcing the property you bought? Did you use a turnkey provider? Or an assortment of real estate professionals in the market you chose?

2.) How did you choose the market that you chose to invest in? As a follow up since markets obviously change rapidly, when did you purchase your property in said market?

3.)how would you "rate" the overall process? Was it unnecessarily stressful or are you looking forward to purchasing another property from abroad?

Looking forward to discussing with fellow expats (current or past)!

Tim
