city of dallas residential addition questions
I am considering adding a bedroom and bathroom addition to one of my properties that is located in the City of Dallas. It is a 1940's two bedroom/one bath home that I want to make a 3/2. I have remodeled the bedrooms already but am in the process of remodeling the kitchen and living area. I was looking at the cities website and it seems that it is quite a process to get a building permit for an addition. They require a green building plan and energy compliance path. Does anyone have any information on the process and how difficult it may be? Also, will I be opening a bigger can of worms by pursuing this idea? Meaning, will the energy compliance and green building criteria cause me to have to do more work to the existing structure. Any advice on working with the City of Dallas will be greatly appreciated.
