Finding a properties note

I have a brother that has owned his house for about 15-20 years. I know that he has some equity in it. He has been unemployed for about 4-5 years. When I asked, he said that he hasn’t made any payments since Nov, of 2012. He said that he thinks that his note has been bought and sold several times. My question is, is there a way that I can find an individual note? (his) And how. Thanks Brian
