Flipping Note in Self Directed IRA

Jarrod Tucker
Posted

I am currently have a verbal agreement in place with on a note lead I picked up through my marketing. With this particular note, I would like to flip it to another investor; however I would like to know if I can do this within my self directed IRA account. I would greatly appreciate any input you all may have on this. Thanks!

@Jarrod Tucker

I wouldn’t take the advice of well intentioned, but uninformed non experts (including me!).

The issue is that retirement funds are required to make investments, not run operating businesses. Which is why an investment in an operating business is okay IF the retirement fund principal is not involved in managing or working in said business.

Some of this is subject to interpretation.
