Im looking to put my time and hard earned cash into tax liens

First let me say I have been lurking in this site for a while and I have  been reading about tax liens in Maryland for about a year .

When it Finally came down to the day of the tax lien auction  It was a fail.

My plan was to do the baltimore tax lien auction i participated in the Baltimore. County tax lien auction and it was not what I expected. First of all I assumed it would be a back and forward type of auction which it was not. It was place your bid and that's it.  2nd, I made the mistake of not actually bidding what I would be willing to actually pay for the house instead I posted a couple thousand above the tax lien. I did everything else right. I scoped out the homes etc

SInce Baltimore city is the only one that does over the counter tax lien sales , I'll.have to wait til next year to give this a try again.

so my question for all those that been doing this for the long haul.  What tips would or recommendation would you all give for the next go around

@Ned Carey is your Baltimore area expert.

Are there any other auctions you can go to in other cities/location around Maryland?
