How to cover pool to avoid hazard?

Hi,

I am rehabbing a house and I have a swimming pool in really bad shape with all kinds of living organisms in it. Right now, I don’t want to spend a lot of money to either remove it or clean it up to make it functional.

I am looking for a way to cover it so it is no longer a hazard for future residents and city officials won’t red tag it. What would be the cheapest and the easiest solution to implement that would last for at least next 5-10 years.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @Jeff Cliff as Kyle mentioned the cheapest option is likely going to be just fixing it up, assuming there isn't anything structurally or functionally wrong with it. The cost of filling the pool can be pretty expensive. The following article goes into all the different costs.
