Seattle dumpster rental recommendations

I am beginning renovations on a single family home in West Seattle soon, and the demo and trash generated will be pretty extensive. The previous owner left a lot of stuff behind.

Does anyone have a dumpster rental company in Seattle they can recommend?

What kind of rates and/or fees should I expect to pay?

For any of the items left behind that are in decent condition do you try to sell or donate to Goodwill?

Do you donate any of the items in good condition to Goodwill or sell?

@Jess Haas It's been a few years since I rented a dumpster in Seattle but we used ABC Cleanup Services.  The rate really depends on the size of the dumpster and what materials you plan on putting in it.  Call around and get quotes from multiple companies as they will compete with each other.  We found that some companies would tack on additional fees for pickup or drop off so make sure you look at your all in price to make your decision.

They do have specific rules calling out what you can and cannot put in their dumpsters (no appliances, hazardous materials or things like bricks from chimneys, etc.). The other thing to be aware of is the dumpster will have a maximum weight limit which you do not want to exceed.  This is so the truck can pickup the dumpster off the ground.  Given it rains a lot in Seattle this time of year, keep this in mind as wet garbage is really heavy.

We were working in the White Center area at the time and I always got the locking dumpster as it does become a really attractive target for others to add items into your dumpster.

As for anything in decent condition I would look to give to Goodwill or even post for free online.  Anything you can avoid having to throw away will save you time and money.

Best of luck,

John
