Haw many of you have a GC license?

I've been doing some reading and it appears North Carolina, my home state, has laws in place for requiring a GC license once an estimated rehab goes over $30k. A number of the rehabs we've looked at here in Charlotte cross that $30k watermark. So it made me wonder - How many DIY folks have their GC License? Is that common for those wanting to do some or all of the work themselves?

I was told by my county code enforcement guy that there are very few things that you cannot do, to a property that you own, without the need of a permit. You can do an awful lot of stuff to your own property without involving permits or licenses. It is when you work on other people's property that the code enforcement guys get involved. This applies to my county. I cannot speak to anywhere else. I recommend talking to your code enforcement office to stay in compliance.
