Do you need a real estate license to start a real estate company?

I would like to start my own real estate investment company in Missouri. My plan is to purchase, rehab, and offer rental property.

Do I need to obtain a real estate license to do this?

I don't believe you would have to have a license to own the company, but you would certainly need a broker in your company to transact real estate business. I know a case of that here where one of the couple is owner and the other is broker. The owner doesn't have a license.
