Expectation on siding labor costs
I have a building that we are going to re-side with vinyl siding. It's the first one of five buildings. My plan is for us to provide materials and allow the contractor to do 'prep' and the labor installation. All prices are retail and will be lower with a QSP or our wholesale distributor. The 'prep' will include the cedar siding tearoff, but not disposal. We have that covered. New materials will be placed/staged on site (and old siding removed from the work site) with my current or hired labor.
I've selected at retail list price is $6.28 a piece at Lowe's, or $0.63 a square foot. It's 12 feet long, with each piece having two 5" faces for a 10" reveal. The building I am siding is roughly 50' by 65' and is two stories. There are no dormers just walls and gable ends. All the material adds up to about $5,000 covering everything; siding, soffit, facia, fasteners, vents, vent covers, utility boxes, even new external light fixtures.
My expectation is labor for this project should be at most about $5,000. This should be a simple and quick install. I plan to get 3 bids/quotes, but I'd like to hear experiences from others regarding vinyl install labor costs, and if you segregate materials from labor on siding (or roofing) jobs.
