Effect of Steep Stairs on Financing and Saleability

We have an old house, 1937, with steep stairs that are uneven. One set of stairs goes down and makes a gradual turn.

Not only are they steep, they vary in height and depth along the way.

We are selling the house with a broker. The broker says that it might effect a conforming loan and therefore make the property less marketable.
