Salary for house flipping

Not sure if this is a stupid question or not but here it goes....

So I want to purchase a property and initially I want to do most of the work myself and to finance the first deal I will most likely use a hard money lender. Can I pay myself a salary throughout the project so that I don't have to go 3 - 6 months without receiving any income?

Replied

A HML is not going to "pay you a salary" while you rehab. They may cover most of your rehab costs, and with you doing the work yourself. You're essentially saving money.

If you have not flipped before, they usually want to see some sort of experience before lending you money.

Stay with your day job, and rehab on the side.
