Upgraded property without permits

Good day,

I have a question and concern.  I bought a 4 unit property in Long Beach CA several years ago and have been slowly upgrading and remodeling to the interior of the front house.  A couple of years ago I brought out the sledge hammer and when crazy and changed the layout of the house.  The house was originally a 2 bed 1 1/2 bath house and I had remodeled it to be a 4 bedroom 2 bath house.  All work was interior and did not add any additional square footage to the house.  In adding two bedrooms and converting to a full bath there was obviously some framing, electrical and plumbing work that needed to be done to achieve this.  My father is a contractor and he had his colleagues help us out with the plumbing and electrical work.  Long story short is that we did all of this without city permits and inspections.  Will this be a problem in the future?? The public record for the property shows it as a 7 bed 4 bath property, but it is now an actual 10 bed 5 bath property.  1 bedroom is non-conforming as it was a garage converted to a bedroom in the 80's.

How do I go about bringing the public records to it's current condition with the addition of bedrooms and bathrooms for when it is time to list or refinance?  Is the city going to rip me a new one since the electrical work was done under their nose, all up to code of course, but without the fees and inspections?

Thanks for reading and your input,

Chad
