VANDALISM - Avoiding while under construction

Hey everybody...

I stumbled across an absolute gem recently. The house's shell, foundation and roof are up, but the entire inside needs to be rebuilt. The studs are up to get definition to the spaces, but it's completely open. We get to build it however we want, which is going to be awesome!

The problem:  since it's been listed, it has been vandalized. People have come in and stripped the wiring that was all done for the electric, etc. It's in a pretty bad area, so I am not too too surprised.

Now, closing is tomorrow and building will soon follow. What are some successful methods of preventing this vandalism from happening again? Will boarding up the tons of windows that are in the building work fine? Do I need to get a security system on every window? Hire somebody to live inside with a gun? haha

thanks!

Look for CoC insurance

  • Builder's Risk insurance, also known as “course of construction”, “construction all risk”, and “contractor's all risk insurance”, is a specialized form of insurance designed to insure buildings or projects against repair or replacement costs while they are under construction and, in some cases, for a specified period ...

To qualify, the agent will require fencing, locking up access.
