water valves repair updated
from the water valves and doorknobs thread:
After an unsatisfactory discussion with American Home Shield, my home warranty co, the rep of which said to go ahead and use the washer, I called the city code depart, and told them basically the same thing: I didn't think it was repaired to code, I was afraid to use the washer, that more damage would be done, if the parts came apart I had no way to stop the water, etc. The first man I talked to told me to go down to buy a construction permit, then they could have an inspector come to see it. The second fellow told me to call Neighborhood Resources, a city agency that checks on code violations.
That fellow came and cited 3 violations. He told me to call the plumbing co, they might be interested in fixing the violations before his report gets too far. So I did, and yesterday the owner came and did the repairs. The city inspector will come next week to check the repaired work.
