cupboard shelf replacement

The lower shelf in a kitchen cupboard is badly warped--sunk in. Probably made of sawdust. The shelf is 23" wide, 33" long, with a 3" support (Sorry, don't know what it's called-the doors hit that panel)up the middle. I know the replacement board will have to be cut, but will that be one or two pieces--in half, or two large pieces and one narrow one?

Also, and again sorry, I'm not much of a shopper--the existing shelf was covered with an oak kind of contact paper. Where do I get that? Home Depot? I plan to replace the shelf with an old piece of plywood. Will the contact paper stick to it?
