Through the course of my travels I have come across several vacant properties in good ,stable housing markets, that have gone untouched in years. Can anyone provide suggestions on doing due diligence on locating the current owner of the property, and the tax status? I continually seem to find these properties .. I need a little direction on conducting the research.

Also being in the area when the mailman runs is an extra way to get detail. He may know the history of the house as far as the family that was last there, the owner of the house if there is a landlord, etc.
