bids
I've had 5 companies come to give a bid on installing steel security doors and bars on my nice rental in a nice area. All knew it was a rental. Bids went from just under $2000 to just over $6000, parameters were the same-same doors, same windows, basic, nothing fance.
Have you been faced with such a wide price range? I had the feeling from 3 of them that since this is a rental (it is nice) that I can afford the higher price. The fellow with the highest bid disn't even really measure, and my thought was that his cost was MORE than covered.
How then does one decide the best price? The three lowest were I feel the more honest, and frankly, if I have it done, I may have to choose the least expensive. That least expensive one (all of them) have ads in the phone book, so they've been here a while.
I was totally disappointed with such a wide range...
