Flooding basement

A property I am looking to make an offer on has a flooding problem in the basement every time it rains. The sub-pump is located in the corner of the basement. I'm guessing in order to prevent further flooding I would have to dig out the concrete floors and re-locate the sub pump more to the middle. I would hire a contractor to do this but does anyone have any idea of how much this would cost? A rough estimate would help.

In my area, it's about $65 to $85 per linear foot of perimeter wall at floor level.  If the house is rectangular, measure the length and width, add them together, multiply by 2 and then multiply by the approximate price range I gave.

That is for a perimeter French drain system; as others have pointed out, placing a sump in the middle of the floor is not the way to do it, putting the sump in the corner gives you usable floor space in the middle of the basement where it is most useful.  and since the sump has to pump water out, that reduces the amount of pipe needed on the sump pump discharge.

I do have a house with a floor drain in the middle of the floor but it was built that way many years back.
