replacing the (wetted) insulation

One roofing co has STILL not called back. I think they are out of the running, though I would have chosen them. That means Brad roofing. However, one of the things I asked to have done when they remove the piece of flakeboard to replace it due to water damage, was to remove the insulation under it--approximately a 6'x10' area, and replace. The bid amount for that, is $350 per roll. According to home depot, the price for that amount would be less than $80.00, buying batts, rather than rolls. Thing is, I don't know the on center distance of the joists. I could borrow a ladder and go measure. 1 Batt will cover about 37 sq feet-he said 10 pieces, 4' long, $22.50. I don't want to pay $350 for that...
Any suggestions on best/ appropriate ways to handle this?

I have a call in to the ceiling repair person to ask HIM about replacing the insulation if there is sign of mold on sheetrock. Should the insulation be replaced in any event, since it did get wet? Will it be obvious HOW MUCH got wet?

I HATE no longer being agile... any volunteers?
And I haven't told them of the other house yet...
