get my own General Liability Insurance ?

Let’s say here is the situation. The house is being extensively remodeled, contractors crawling on top of each other …we have painters in one room, cabinet guy finishing crown molding on those 42” cherry beauties, there is a deck guy shooting the heck out of nail gun outside, garage guys patching the siding, mortar guy patching and tuck-pointing the chimney in other words … scheduling mess, aka typical flip scenario ohh and there is a plumber who just pulled in hoping to replace the missing copper

The guy walks to the basement and falls down the stairs (faulty railing). Brakes his leg.

My situation. I have a contract with GC to remodel everything. I was added on the GC insurance (general liability insurance) as an additional insured. In this case …would that protect me from being sued by the plumber ?
GC never worked on the railing of the stair. It is in SOW to update it but they never touched it yet. I don’t think GC will be responsible…so what next …well the claim flows upstream …I have builder’s risk insurance ..well that one covers the building only…shall I get my own liability insurance policy ? …just like GC would get ? there might be plenty of other hazards on the job site that me as a building owner is responsible for …hanging wiring, maybe a beam that is just waiting to fall on somebody
Also ..we all know we should hire licensed guys …but there are a lot of unlicensed trades who are skilled in what they do and price competitive …if I hire an unlicensed person as a contractor and he does damage to the building or his work caused somebody to get hurt…would my general liability insurance be the one to take from there ?

Also …I hear many times “simply get ur company added to contractor insurance policy and you will be fine” …really ? they are carrying liability insurance …which means it will kick in when they cause the damage to the building/somebody …but if they get hurt themselves ..me being added to the policy will not help ..because the policy never covered him being hurt in the first place …
