Using mdf wall paneling in mobile home with formaldehyde
I am rehabbing our first mobile home and instead of throwing away all paneling and sheetrocking, I decided to just replace a few rooms worth with new paneling from home depot. I finished one room today and then read the little warning label on the sheets. It says i cannot use it in mobile homes!
I called and asked, and the rep from GP said I can not use the product in mobile homes because a mobile home is too much of a confined space and there is too much formaldehyde out gassing.
My question, do I throw it all in the trash, or can I at least maybe oil base primer it and 2 coats of paint to seal in the formaldehyde on my 1 finished room?
I will return all the unused pieces and look for a non formaldehyde product tomorrow.
BTW, the big box store says its fine and everyone uses it in mobile homes.
Thanks
