filling in door sidelight

Posted

we have a door sidelight that we no longer want.  we prefer to fill the glass area with something solid.  The glass portion is maybe 1/2 ft x 5.25 ft.  Can we just put plywood or vinyl trim or something similar in the glass area?  what would you suggest?

Hey @Wendy Man

If you're just looking to block out the light there are several products out there from blinds to shutters that you can put up.

As far as a permanent fix, I guess it all depends on your standards for aesthetics vs cost. on the cheaper end of the spectrum would be getting a piece of hardboard and cutting it to size, installing it, and painting over it. otherwise as you mentioned maybe some vinyl or wood.
