Getting a Real Estate License

I've heard once you get your real estate license you must wait 2 years until you can break off from a "Keller Williams" company and go on your own. Is this true? I've decided to get into wholesaling and understanding the hustle behind it to work my way up to flipping and then buy and hold. I only want to get my license to get access to the MLS but I don't want to get involved with a real estate company. Can someone provide some feedback to this?

@Michael Bartlett

If you're just looking for MLS access, there are services that might provide that to you without even getting your license. If you want to get your license, yYes, you have to hang your shingle, so to speak, under a brokerage. But it doesn't have to be a big house like KW or REMax or anything. Go with someone like Brokers Guild. You can either do $25/mo fee and only $195/transaction or $0/month and $395/transaction.
