Investing in Bakersfield
My wife and I are interested in possibly buying a rental property in Bakersfield, like a 4 plex. I would appreciate anyone's input on their experiences with owning property there. The city doesn't seem like it has a lot going for it. I would appreciate any input.

Bakersfield is not as glamorous as many areas in California but I personally think it is a good choice for cashflow and fundamentally solid growth. It is a growing city and it is affordable. There is a lot of information online in terms of growth, demographics, etc.
Small multifamily (2-4 units) is and has been in big demand lately. Prices are up dramatically from a few years ago. Investors are still getting deals that cashflow but it is not as easy if you are looking on the MLS or loopnet.
