New to investing and the Fresno area

Hello. My name is Sean and I've been reading up on investing here on BP for quite some time and I have finally formulated my plan that will let me get my first investment property. I just need a little help in the execution. 

My plan is to house hack to give both my family a place to live and maybe get a little cash flow in the process too. 

I have this whole grand idea to use an FHA loan to purchase a quadplex and rent the other units out. Problem is I just moved to Fresno about a month ago and it's starting to look like I'm not exactly in the best area for multifamily homes.

Would anyone like to help me brainstorm on what I can do here? I refuse to let something like this stop me now that I have the motivation to get it done.
