Any downside to a local newspaper article about your project?

To further explain, I am in the process of rehabbing a 12 unit apartment and my contractor stated that a reporter stopped by and asked him to give the owner (me) his number because he wants to interview me about the apartment.  We are doing some extensive remodeling and giving the whole building a face lift.

This is a smaller town as you would expect so they probably search high and low for stories.  I personally live about 25 minutes away in a different city. I will probably wait to call until we have a few units completed so it may help fill some units faster. It would be a puff piece I realize that, but does anyone have any experience or thoughts on things I may be not thinking about it?

Thanks.

@Zach Quick,

Improving the local community will likely be more positive than anything, as long as you're making improvements local renters may find desirable and as long as those improvements don't price local renters out of the rental market.

"A 'puff' piece"? Maybe. It will bring you to some prominence in the local RE community, I should think. You could find yourself sought after for opinions, as a private lender or even as a potential developer among the local investment community.

Congrats! I hope it works out well for you!
