Discuss: Your definition of "Investor"
Hey,
Apparently when we sign up for a BP account we are automatically given the title Investor (or I don't remember that I personally chose that designation). I didn't feel like an investor and still don't, seeing that I have not yet made any deals and am not even sure what I am looking for (i.e. Buy & Hold, Fix & Flip etc.). And then I saw all the newbie posts where we try to give an impression of confidence calling ourselves investors when there might be fear and apprehension over starting down a new road in life. Kinda made me wonder.
So:
1) What made you feel like an investor?
2) What is your definition of the term "Investor"?
3) What gave you the confidence to keep doing what you are doing in RE?
4) What lessons along the road have you brought to the world of RE?
Thanks,
Sam.

@Shmuel Harris did not know it defaults to that... I don't think that is good at all.
what many people do in the industry is not investing. IE in my mind brokering deals either by flipping contracts or as a RE agent is not investing.. its sales and marketing.
IN my mind an investor is buying a long term asset.
So for me who builds new homes these days to sell to the retail public I don't consider my self an investor I consider my self a builder developer..
I do own a few rentals ( selling them all off and retiring from land lording) that is investing IE long term buy and hold.
So yes I agree with your point and BP should not default people to calling them investors when in fact they have either never bought anything ( 50% or better of the people on this site :) ) or are trying to flip in some way
