Advice on finding deals

Hi all, I'm new-ish to the real estate investment game and looking for quick flip opportunities in San Diego. Any good deal is hard to come by these days, but I'm curious what advice everyone would give to somebody who is trying to find multiple distressed properties at once. Currently I only have (1) agent searching the MLS for us - thats basically it. Where else should I go, who should I be talking to, and what kind of creative avenues for finding deals are out there?

@Bradford Reller - There are multiple avenues to seek deals outside of the MLS. I would recommend joining all of the local RE investment facebook groups since deals are posted there all the time. In addition, figure out some solid streets and neighborhoods you want to invest in, have your agent grab a list of owners from the MLS, and start a direct mailing campaign. You can also drive for dollars, look for distressed properties and knock on peoples doors. At the end of the day, the quality of deal you will get depends on the sweat equity you are looking to put in to find the deal. Yes, MLS is a good resource for deals but mostly for "single base" hits since you face such a high level of competition. You're not going to find a home run opportunity unless you go for some of those off market routes.
