How much do you pay for owner lists, and what do you get on them? I’m a relatively new invester in Auckland, New Zealand and I’m not sure how common the practice of direct marketing for leads is. I’m not even sure if it’s possible to pull particularly comprehensive lists. Just curious to see how much of an investment it is for most who use it, and how refined the data actually is

Ryan you can do direct mail in NZ but it is not particularly effective. What works WAY better is to5 will pick an area, specifically a couple of streets. Draw up a flyer, A4 or A5 will do. You want to simply say that you are looking to buy a house in the area and if they or anybody they knew might be interested in selling could they please contact you.

It needs to look amateurish, neatly handwritten and if you have a wife and or kids have a photo of the fam. in one corner.

I used to get all my students to do this, it works really, really well. DON'T design it on a computer if it looks professional people assume you're an agent and your response will drop.

Hand deliver them to letterboxes and if you see anybody out int he yard and they want to talk then tell them what you're doing. You'll get leads.

And of course best of all it's free!
