Section 8 Investing in California

Daelin Martins
Posted

Is there any info or other post on requirements for landlords that are trying to rent to section 8?

EX: building requirements, rent pricing, etc.

Looking into buying a home as a section 8 rental but want to know the in and outs before doing so.

Hello Daelin,

All homes in CA are now available to be considered for housing a Voucher holder. If you are looking for guidelines as to what inspections items need to be addressed, condition of the home, rental range, etc this can be found on SHRA's website. Also do not forget there is additional paperwork, getting setup as a vendor, different timelines and notices that have to sometimes be used when working with the housing authority. It is great that you are thinking of providing housing for the less advantaged but I might have you consider using a property manager to navigate the process, place a tenant and help you through the paces of it for at least the first year to learn.
