Buy and Hold in Austin, TX

My wife and I just sold an investment property in CA and we are looking for new markets. I keep fining my way to Austin and I am trying to get more information on the area before I make the 12 hour drive from NM. Looking at a price range up to $150K, seem to find plenty of options but I am not sure the areas to really focus on. Looking for a buy and hold property. Thanks!

I'm still actively looking in this area. Round Rock has worked well for me. I'm buying 140k stuff that's very easily renting for 1350. I closed on this particular house two months or so ago. The market up there is good, I'm fortunate that I work up there and live in downtown Austin and what I've found is that people love it up there and many would never consider living in Austin. There are also big employers (Dell) and awesome schools.

Also, if anyone has neighborhood specific questions about Round Rock I'm glad to answer. I work as a medic and have actually been inside literally thousands of Round Rock houses running 911 calls so I can tell you almost to the exact street where you want to be and not...

Also as far as appreciation goes. I bought a 3/2 there around two years ago for 177k its now worth 220k according to the tax records.

Cheers.
