DR Horton build quality

Hello,

I am currently looking to buy a home in Mt Pleasant, SC and I have seen some recently built DR Horton homes for sale. I am currently living in the Seattle area and  the DR Horton homes have bad reputations for being low quality and having lots of issues in the first few years of ownership. I believe each sub-area of DR Horton has different quality so I was wondering if anyone has had experiences living, buying, or renting a DR Horton home in South Carolina. Thanks!

I have inspected many DR Horton homes.  In short I would say to think of it like this: DR Horton homes are “value” homes.  That means you get more sq footage at a cheaper price.  But keep in mind that the cheaper price is possible bc of cheaper grade materials and more affordable contractors.  They will literally ship the entire house on a flat bed truck and have contractors put it together like legos.  From my experience as a licensed inspector in SC and GA I would personally stay clear.
