Thanks for all the replies. My wife and I ended up closing on the DR Horton townhome and I am very happy with the quality of the build. The home builder has personally been in touch with us and will make any changes we ask for. The townhomes are not emerald quality so there are some cheaper features. For example, the cabinets and doors are very thin but you get what you pay for. If anyone is interested in more information on Oyster Point home buying feel free to reach out!

Thanks for the information John, it is really appreciated. My first home purchase was older and while it has issues like every home, the home is very sturdy and solid.

Thanks for the replies I appreciate the information. I am in the military so I am familiar with having to house hunt in a short time window. I just like to gather as much info as possible before going out and seeing properties. Have you heard anything about DR Horton’s Oyster Point homes and townhomes?

Hello,

I am currently looking to buy a home in Mt Pleasant, SC and I have seen some recently built DR Horton homes for sale. I am currently living in the Seattle area and  the DR Horton homes have bad reputations for being low quality and having lots of issues in the first few years of ownership. I believe each sub-area of DR Horton has different quality so I was wondering if anyone has had experiences living, buying, or renting a DR Horton home in South Carolina. Thanks!

Hey BP,

I was wondering if you live in a property for over two years and then move and rent it out for some time, do you still get the personal residence tax benefit? Or, do you have to live in it two years prior to selling?

Thanks in advance!

Hey BP,

My wife and I have inherited a property that is split three ways with other family members. We have considered renting it, but it is a condo and the HOA will not allow any more rentals. If we sell the property and split the profit three ways, can we take our portion of the profit and roll it into another property to avoid the taxes on it? Thanks!

Hi there,

My name is Kevin and I am brand new to real estate investing. I am moving to Pierce County (Tacoma, Puyallup) in August and I am planning to buy and hold properties out there. I am excited to meet new people, make connections, and gain as much knowledge as I can from others!
